JIMI HENDRIX's Brother Sues Adopted Stepsister For Defamation

JIMI HENDRIX's brother, Leon Hendrix, has slapped the guitarist's adopted stepsister Janie Hendrix with a defamation suit on Oct. 9 for allegedly claiming that Leon and Jimi were only half brothers. Janie Hendrix, forty-one, is president of Experience Hendrix LLC, the company that owns and controls Jimi Hendrix's music and image.

The latest suit also accuses Janie of defrauding the public by her claims that that Experience Hendrix was a "family company" intent on winning rights back for musicians. "Leon and other family members were not allowed to participate in the company's function or operation, or to receive the benefits of those operations," the suit states.

Back in early August, Leon filed suit to gain what he considers his fair share of Hendrix's estate. Hendrix's legacy was controlled by his father, Al Hendrix, who died in April at age 82, leaving nearly everything to his adopted daughter. In the father's will, Janie Hendrix was given control of Experience Hendrix LLC and the Hendrix estate, worth about $150 million to $240 million. His brother, Leon Hendrix, got a souvenir gold record. The original suit argues the will and living trust are invalid because Al Hendrix signed them under Janie's undue influence.
